Child Friendly Environment

“Atlantis Swimming School” was formed in 1999 by Lynsey Pearson at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield where she also teaches year 3 children to swim.

Lynsey’s husband, Mark joined her to operate the swimming school in the year 2000. Mark currently works for the swimming school on a full-time basis and he is also the Head of Swimming at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School.

Atlantis Swimming School has earned itself an excellent reputation for providing very high standards of tuition and also for it’s friendly and caring teaching environment.

Swimming lessons are taught to children from the age of 4 years. All abilities are catered for, from water confidence classes right the way through to the Coaching Academy.

Swimming lessons are now held at several venues across Wakefield and Pontefract in West Yorkshire and also Ripon in North Yorkshire.

Mark and Lynsey are committed to maintaining and improving the quality of the swimming tuition provided. All swimming teachers at Atlantis Swimming School are fully qualified through the “Amateur Swimming Association of England and Wales”, the main governing body of British swimming.

Teachers also hold the “National Rescue Test for Swimming Teachers and Coaches” lifesaving qualification and are fellows of the “Institute of Swimming”. All teachers are checked by the Criminal Bureau. All teachers participate in “continued professional development” ensuring they are constantly developing and updating their skills and knowledge.

To enhance the current high standards held at “Atlantis Swimming School”, Mark and Lynsey are currently undertaking the application to be rewarded the kite mark initiative designed by the amateur swimming association called “Aquamark. This is an award given to swimming lesson providers who are shown to demonstrate a “real quality”. Please click on the “Aquamark” link for further information.
