Monday and Wednesday evenings
Class size is varies At this stage we use the ASA Learn to Swim 8-10, ASA Rainbow Distance Awards and the ASA Swimming Challenge Awards.
Our academy is led by a very experienced and successful coach, Mark Pearson. As well as teaching & coaching at Atlantis Swimming School for the past 18 years, Mark is also the head of swimming at QEGS in Wakefield. Since 2009 he has coached teams to 12 North Eastern Regional titles and since 2012 to 6 National titles including HMC, ESSA & IAPS championships and setting 5 new national records at these events.
This stage is for children who have completed the ASA Learn to Swim 1-7 (or equivalent) and ASA Rainbow Stroke Awards to 50m using backstroke, front crawl and breaststroke. The lessons are taught in lane swimming format and pupils are grouped according to their ability/level. Our focus is to develop all four of the major strokes to such a standard of efficiency that will equip pupils to partake in competitive swimming and any other water based sport they may wish to pursue in the future. The majority of our pupils complete the Gold Challenge award and Personal Survival Level 2 award enabling them to open up many possibilities.
